Today, my friends and I ventured into the bustling night scene of the East District's food street.
Located under the Civic Boulevard overpass, we discovered an exceptionally great izakaya.
CHIKUPA Izakaya
The quaint little storefront facing the street is adorned with charming decorations.
The ambiance inside is very Japanese style, though the seating is a bit narrow.
Outside, there's a simple service bar, while the kitchen is located in the rear area.
The menu design is also quite fun and engaging.
After placing our order, we eagerly awaited our dishes!
Edamame _ NT$80
A must-try at the izakaya: the peppery kick of black pepper paired with chilled edamame.
It's an excellent dish to accompany your drink.
French Gillardeau Oysters - NT$1700 per half dozen.
At CHIKUPA, what stands out the most is their variety of oysters.
We were first-timers and chose the French Gillardeau oysters.
Truly, with just one bite, you can savor the fresh, sweet taste of the sea. Highly recommended!
Grilled secallops with crab paste _ NT$300 per piece
The scallops paired with crab roe are truly tender and delicious.
For those who love crab roe, this is definitely worth a try.
Clam soup _ NT$130
Since we really loved the oysters, we decided to try something different and ordered clam soup.
The flavor was incredibly refreshing, making it a perfect choice for soup.
Water lotus _ NT$180
When dining out, I always enjoy having a green dish.
Stir-fried water spinach with bonito flakes offers an excellent texture and taste.
Clam udon _ NT$300
Udon noodles paired with clams,
similar to how one would prepare pasta, making for a rather interesting dish.
Beef tongue black lave salt thick slic _ NT$430
Since I don't eat beef, I can't personally comment on this dish.
However, my companions highly recommended it,
noting that the meat was incredibly tender, almost tempting them to order a second serving.
Overall, the food was delicious, and the seafood was very fresh.
However, the prices for each dish are indeed a bit on the higher side,
so those interested in trying should perhaps check the menu and prices before deciding.
